Ok, so it's not the kind where you talk about how you can't believe that so-and-so actually wore that particular wardrobe combo today.
But I need to talk about The Office.
The show.
Specifically, I want to know whether you think The Office has jumped the shark.
I'm feeling like perhaps it has.
The first episode of The Office that I saw was the Season 2 Christmas special. You know, the Secret Santa episode where Michael buys the iPod?
It's arguably the funniest sitcom Christmas episode ever, and I don't want to suggest that the series has gone downhill from there, because there have been several gems since then.
But since the writer's strike, I don't know. It just seems...different.
I mean, I love that Jim and Pam are engaged, but didn't the shenanigans surrounding their awkward and seemingly unrequited affections for each other keep us wondering whether it would ever happen? Now that it has, does it somehow change the anticipation of how their relationship will play itself out in each episode?
I still can't decide.
Vote in the poll to the right whether you think the shark has been jumped or not.
And maybe leave a comment with your thoughts.
Let's "tawk."

I definitely think it's gone downhill. We watched some episodes from season 1 last night, and it was a completely different show! But I will say that I still think it's worth watching.
I do NOT like the whole Jan storyline, they need to kick her to the curb! The baby shower episode, like the dinner party episode, was just a little too over the top for me. I think they need to get back to the subtle humor, and basic office shenanigans, and do less of all this nonsense!
I totally agree!
I think that the more "mundane" it is - just playing out day-to-day interactions between those hyperboles of people that are found in every office - the funnier it is. We've all worked with a Stanley (the Complainer) or a Dwight (the Suck Up), or an Angela (the Witch). Just let those characters be themselves!
And totally lose Jan!
We've seen every episode since the beginning and you're right, it is a lot different now. It's a lot more "painful". Mark and I cringed the entire episode last week. We're still going to keep watching because we have nothing better to do. :P
I agree. I watched all the seasons this past spring and have been disappointed lately...
This is still my favorite show on TV right not, but it has changed. I agree the humor used to be a bit more subtle, and after Jan got fired that storyline took a nose dive. I really liked her before all that. I think part of the lost charm came from taking Jim out of the office for awhile. I really missed him pulling Dwight's leg. And now Pam is out of the office. And poor sad faced Toby is gone. But The Temp is back! If they could just keep that original group of characters all in the same place I think I could be happy.
